What type of questions are asked in NEWGEN on campus interview | NEWGEN campus procedure

NEWGEN is a small level IT Company having a total of 1100 employees in India. This company has three offices in India. NEWGEN has its branches in abroad too. Most of the clients of NEWGEN are banks and government agencies. This is a very good company because growth in this company is very high. The initial package offered by this company is 3.75 lakhs which is a very good salary package. Unlike mass recruiters like TCS or Infosys NEWGEN recruit only 10-12 candidates from an engineering college. What NEWGEN looks in a candidate is his/her technical knowledge. In our campus (MSIT New
Delhi), NEWGEN came after two mass recruiter Infosys and HCL. There were three persons in NEWGEN recruitment team, one HR person and two technical persons. The HR gave the introduction to the company its offices location, service bond and salary information. After that written test was conducted there were two written tests.


Written test 1: there were four sections in this written test.
Analytical/logical reasoning part
Aptitude part
Technical questions
Verbal

I don’t remember the number of questions in each section and time duration. But I think there were around 20-25 questions from each section. Analytical part and aptitude part was very easy, if you preparing from the books like R.S Aggarwal then you can easily get good marks in these sections. Verbal part was also easy. There were mix questions in this section i.e. questions from antonyms, synonyms, comprehensive passages, fill in the blanks etc. memorize some antonyms and synonyms to clear this section. Now the last section i.e. technical section was very tough. There were questions from networking, DBMS and other field of computer science. I had never read the questions that were asked in this section. But by hit and trial method you can clear this section (that’s the only way).

There were 150 candidates who appeared for the written test in our campus and out of these 150 candidates only 35 got shortlisted for the next round.

Written test 2: the second written test was psychometric test. Yes this is the elimination round. If you are reading this article you will never be eliminated in NEWGEN psychometric test because I will tell you how to crack it. So what is psychometric test? In psychometric test one tries to judge your reaction to a particular situation whether you are positive or not. For example questions asked in psychometric test are like this….

Q: if you in hurry to office and while driving the car you suddenly noticed someone is suffering at the road and in need of help. What will you do in that situation?
  1. I will left the person suffering on the road because I am getting late for the office
  2. I will take the person to the hospital
  3. I will call the police
  4. I will ask someone else to help the person.

Therefore choose the answer that seems to be most positive not that you think I will do this in that situation. Understood?
If you remember the above thing you can easily clear this section. There were 60 questions in this sections are there were 20 minutes to solve these 60 questions.
Out of 35 candidates, 20 got selected for the technical interview round.
 Technical interview round:
There were two panels for the technical interviews and both the interviewers were from the R&D department. The interview duration was 40 to 50 minutes. My interview was like this:
I entered the room. The interview was very soft person, he shake hand with me and make me feel comfortable and asked me very simple questions like your introduction, your hobbies, can you work on weekends, questions on chess because I mentioned it my resume that I like playing chess. Then he asked me technical questions
Q: draw the pattern pyramid
Q: draw the pattern pyramid of strings
Q: third question was also from the pattern. These three questions were very simple and you can easily solve them if you know programming in C.
Q: which sorting technique is best and why?
I said quick sort and explained its reason.
Q: after that he asked me if the list is already sorted then which sorting technique is best.
I don’t know the exact answer and was confused in selection sort or insertion sort.
Q: then he asked question on C; “india is good “is a sentence write a program to reverse this sentence like this “good is india”.
I made a program and explained to him, he does not even respond whether it is correct or not.
Q: what is linked list. Write a program the reverse a link list
Ans I made the program
Q: how you can merge the two linked list if they are moving

Ans: I could not understand the question
Q: last question he asked from me was a crypt—arithmetic question. I could not answer that question too.

So this my NEWGEN interview experience. The NEWGEN team was not satisfied with our college performance and they selected only one candidate out of total 150 candidates and he was the topper of CSE branch.
